Wonderful for birds and most animals. This is in great shape. I tested this by plugging into the microphone jack on a powered speaker.
This model is especially good for mid to high frequency sounds. These are being used outside so no problem. Frequency response 250 to 15 khz 5 db output balanced output impedance 600 ohms output level 52 DBMS at 1 khz weight 1 lb.
Complete with built in microphone capsule, aiming sights, low impedance balanced output and vinyl carrying case and an extra reflector as well as the original paperwork. There were 2 model's this one and one with a preamps in it. Has a mount on the handle to use a camera type tripod with it.
Record sounds for science, music, calls or many other reasons.
This unit is no longer produced and probably a collector item. Someone told me it has from the type of plastic used that gases off a putrid odor as it ages. The weight is not bad but it is a large package. There a couple of thin rubs on one of the reflector and one has a small piece of double faced tape attached.
The case is also in good shape. Used for recording wildlife. The reflectors are yellowed and put off an odor. This was my father unit.
This one does not use batteries like the other one. They have the ability to accumulate a lot of sound from the direction they are pointed and reflect them into a microphone that is mounted at the focal point of the reflector.
The higher the frequency the more directional it is. Because of this it can reach great distances and minimize sounds from other directions. The weight above is for the unit and not the shipping weight.
It would be even better if you run it through a preamps or mixer first. Specs shield parabolic reflector DOA.
